| Hippopotamus’s eat a variety of things in the wild. Low lying plants such as soft grasses are part of their main diet, along with aquatic and reed plants and leaves. Up to 60 kg of grass can be eaten by the hippo by ripping it off with its lips. Hippos also enjoy eating fallen fruits. But, while in a zoo, hippos eat an herbivorous diet. Along with this, they will occasionally munch on cultivated crops, including corn and sugar cane. |
